Day 8 - London [July 6, 2009]

Today is my birthday! And time to say bye to Ireland... We had to leave early to get to the Dublin airport. The flight from Dublin airport to Heathrow is very fast... I was very anxious to get to London to meet my family. My grandma on my dad side is from England and my dad has a few cousins who live in the UK. I've met a few in the past but it was so long ago that I can't really remember.

Neil and Carol picked us up from the airport. I wasn't sure what they looked like but it took less than 2 seconds to find. Big hugs and bigs smiles. Neil drove us to Joanne, their daugther, but not before driving into a post :) Fortunately there was no damage.

Joanne and her husband James live in a very nice house in Fulham, a district of London. Joanne wasn't home yet but her sister Lorna stop by to say 'hi. With her, her two little boys: james, not quite 3 and so cute and very talkative and Oliver, a 4 weeks old treasure. I was lucky to hold the Oliver for a while (it was easy as he was sleeping the whole time). It was a very nice afternoon. We spend some time talking. I can't believe that they had birthday cake for me! So thoughtful. I can't express how happy I am to have finally met this part of my family. FFor years I have been wanting to come to England to see where the quarter of me was from... I'm finally doing it!. I was
very surprised to have a birthday card waiting for me in England. Nan is just the best grandma ever and sent my bday card to her nephew's address so that I get my card on the day of my birthday.

Mike an I had tickets to go see Billy Elliot the musical. Before the show Neil and Carol came out to have dinner with us. It was a very nice dinner. It is funny how this feel like family right away!
The show was very good. I had seen the movie before but that didn't ruin the show. I even cried a little... the young actors are exceptional.

After the show we took the tube back to the house. Joanne and James were already in bed but Joanne got up anyway to say 'hi'. It was great to finally meet her. I can't wait to have dinner with everyone tomorrow night.

I can't think of a better day for my 31st birthday!

Je suis vraiment contente pour toi (it's the chance of a lifetime)

Continue ton beau "trip" et prend plein de photos. J'ai hâte d'entendre tous tes commentaires!

    Take care! Sois prudente!

    Je t'aime xx
