This morning I finally met Paul. He stopped by Edel after his night shift. Mike's family is so great. Everybody is so nice and I'm glad that I got to meet everyone on this trip.
The rain got a little lighter after breakfast and Edel still wanted to go to the sea to have a swim. Mike was sure that I would never get in. I am the worst to get in the water under normal condition (not freezing water) so this was looking to be bad. I usually do it the painful way. I go in sloooooowly... Edel is the same. It was quite a scene to see both of us going in... one centimetre at a time... it was freezing cold! After 15 minutes of agony (ok I'm exaggerating a little.. it wasn't too bad) we both got completely in and stayed in for about 5 minutes. It was great!
After the swim we had to get back home, pack and go. Mike and I wanted to spend some time in Dublin before heading to Nenagh.
Mike wanted me to drive (on the wrong side of the road) on the way to Dublin. It was quite an experience. It is actually quite hard to stay on the right side of the left lane. I was driving so close to the dish (and parked cars) that I was giving Mike small heart attacks. There was no incidents though! We did stop at Mike's parents so that he can take the wheel for the second part of the ride (and also so that he can take an hour long power nap).
We finally made it to Dublin. I really like the city. We didn't have that much time so we only walked in the city center. It was raining a little but nothing that a Patagonia rain coat can't take. After an hour or so and some pictures the rain stopped, the sky cleared and the sun came out. It was so nice to be in Dublin at that time. We got to walk in Stephen's Green. A lovely park in Dublin city center. Mike is a great tour guide!
We had dinner in a Irish pub. Got some delicious lamb stew.
We then left to Ninagh where Mike aunt lives. It is a bout 2 hours away from Dublin close to Limerick. Mike made me drive again for half the distance. Traffic circles make me very nervous but I'm getting used to this driving on the left side. Still kept Mike very alert and stressed until I parked the car. Again, no incidents (just some very close calls). I think I'm done with the driving in Ireland.
We arrive late at Marie's. It was great to see her again.
Tomorrow we are going to see the west coast of Ireland. I can't wait!
